Important info: If you are continuing towards Rostadalen: The bridges over Iselva and Trollelva are damaged. Attempts to cross them are discouraged and done at your own risk. Dærtahytta and Dærtastua are located in Indre Troms along E1, Nordkalottruta, and Grensesømmen. It is, among other things, a good starting point for fishing, both summer and winter. All the lakes in Deartavággi have plenty of fish that are easily tempted by a hiker with a rod. The fauna in the area can also offer exciting encounters. In spring, you can hear the ptarmigan around the clock, and the wolverine passes through the area on its wanderings. In addition, the bear leaves its den, and you might be lucky enough to see it wandering through the valley in search of food. Dærtahytta is located on the marked route between Rostahytta in the north and Dividalshytta in the south. Location: Kvernbekken-Dærtahytta: 22 km, 6 hours. The trail turns off the road 20 min (1.5 km) north of Frihetsli. Up towards the east along the south side of Kvernelva. Across the river and further along the north slope of Storfjellet/Skáktárnjunni. Eastward south of Nohlli, then down to Gárasvuopmi. Fording across Gárasjohka. The river can be crossed by stepping stones at normal water levels, but poles may be an advantage. Further west-northwest towards the nomadic Sami summer camp. The stream at the southern end of Linkojàvrrit can be crossed by stepping stones at normal water levels. The stream from Riittàjàvri, which flows into Cievccasjohka, is easy to cross at normal water levels, but with slightly above average water levels, it must be forded. The marking runs along the riverbank on the stones towards the bridge, and here it is necessary to cross by stepping stones for a longer stretch. A better choice when there is a lot of water is to turn right along the stream to Rittajavri and cross it a little further southeast. That way, you avoid crossing by stepping stones along the river. Alternatively, one can use the year-round bridge below the confluence of Gàrasjohka and Cievccasjohka, 3 km further north along Gárasjohka. The river by the nomadic Sami summer camp must be forded regardless. Can be crossed by stepping stones at normal water levels. Past the nomadic Sami summer camp and north of Cievccasjávri. Further towards Dærta, there are some smaller streams that can be deep. Into Dærtavàggi to the cabin. Rooms: Dærtahytta has 21 beds distributed between Dærtahytta and Dærtastua. Dærtahytta has 8 sleeping places distributed in two bedrooms (4 in each). Dærtastua has 11 sleeping places distributed in three bedrooms (4+4+3 including a family bunk). The dog annex at Dærtastua has 2 sleeping places. Outhouse. Equipment: All Troms Turlag cabins have a wood-burning stove for heating, gas burners for cooking, and kitchen equipment. All cabins, except those close to towns, have duvets and pillows. Bring a sleeping bag liner or sleeping bag. It is recommended to bring candles, matches, and toilet paper for personal use, in case they are missing at the cabin. Water: Drinking water is fetched from the river. In winter, one must melt snow. If one is fit, it is possible to find water in the river that flows out of Njarga lake below the cabins. Dogs: There is a separate dog annex connected to Dærtahytta for those traveling with a dog. Here there are 2 sleeping places, one in the loft and one on the sofa, as well as 2 dog crates. The dog annex is reserved for visitors with dogs, but as with the cabins themselves, unused beds are released at 9 PM, and then guests without dogs can use them. Dogs are not allowed in common rooms and bedrooms. Dærtastua is dog-free. Nature conservation: Dærtahytta is located in Øvre Dividal National Park.
