NB! At least one person in your party MUST be a member to use Troms Turlag’s cabins. Only members can purchase a DNT key. Dividalshytta is located high up on the hillside far inside Dividalen in Indre Troms. Here you are in Øvre Dividal National Park, and can enjoy a magnificent view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Nordkalottruta, E1, and Grensesømmen pass right by, and there are several hiking opportunities in the immediate area. Going west, you reach Vuomahytta, and to the northeast lies Dærtahytta. Right near Dividalshytta are the peaks Njunis (1717 masl), Kistefjell (1632 masl), and Jerta (1428 masl). The cabin cluster consists of 2 cabins, the old one from 1966 and the new one from 1978. Location. From Frihetsli-Ventebu-Dividalshytta: Road continues further into the valley from Frihetsli. NB! Toll fee right after Frihetsli. From Ventebu, approximately 1 km beyond Frihetsli, it is about 6 km along the road to the parking lot at the end of the road. From there, it is 6.5 km, 2-2.5 hours to the cabin. The trail to the cabin starts here, and you will pass the trail junction to Vuomahytta. The trail turns southeast up some hills, but mostly continues over gentle terrain, interspersed with beautiful, old pine trees, until you reach the cabin. You enter Øvre Dividal National Park at Hagembekken. Wintertime: 13 km, 3-3.5 hours. Start at Ventebu, which is at the turning point by Skakterelva, about 1 km beyond Frihetsli, as the road beyond is not plowed. From there, follow the road to the summer parking, then follow the summer route to the cabin. Rooms. Dividalshytta has 16 beds distributed between Gamle and Nye Dividalshytta. Gamle Dividalshytta has 8 beds distributed in 2 bedrooms (4+4). Nye Dividalshytta has 8 beds distributed in 2 bedrooms (4+4). Outhouse. Equipment. Nye Dividalshytta has solar power for lighting and USB charging. The main switch is on the right side in the outer hallway. All Troms Turlag cabins have a wood-burning stove for heating, gas burners for cooking, and kitchen equipment. All cabins, except those near urban areas, have duvets and pillows. Bring a sheet sleeping bag or a sleeping bag. It is recommended to bring candles, matches, and toilet paper for personal use, in case they are missing at the cabin. Water. In winter, there is a well marked with a stake approximately 30 meters east of the outbuilding of the old cabin. In summer, you can, of course, use the same well, but the water runs through marshland and can be discolored during certain periods. If you want water from a fresh mountain stream, go below the new cabin and follow the path south for about 150 m. Dogs. It is possible to have dogs in the outer hallway of both cabins. There are no dog crates. Dogs are not allowed in common rooms and bedrooms. Nature Conservation. Dividalshytta is located in Øvre Dividal National Park. All businesses and commercial operators who bring guests and groups to Troms Turlag’s cabins must contact the hiking association office well in advance of each trip to make arrangements. There are separate prices for commercial use; information on prices can be read here. Prices are independent of whether individuals are members or not. One person in the group must have a valid DNT membership. Only members can get access to the key. All guests in the group must be recorded in the visitor’s log. NB! The cabins must not be used by businesses and commercial operators on weekends, during winter and Easter holidays, public holidays (Ascension Day, Pentecost), and May 1st and May 17th. DNT Membership. Dividalen: Sami Dievaid-vuodi, which means “the forest with the mounds”. Easily accessible for families with children in the summer, 7 km from the summer parking. On the trail from the summer turning point and far into the valley, you can find Sami trail markers where the bark has been scraped off trees in the south and north directions. Far into the valley, you can find remnants of old settlements and reindeer fences. Day trip to Havgahytta deepest in Øvre Dividal National Park, an open, old log cabin from 1948. Day trip down to Divielva through a “troll forest” with old pine forest. Here you will find beautiful waterfalls, deep canyons, and two rapids at Tronga and Divifossen. In autumn, good conditions for picking lingonberries and blueberries. Visit Ole Negårdbua, originally built in the 1920s. It was built by Ole and Johan Nergård for snaring ptarmigan. A copy of the cabin was built in 1992. Today owned by Statskog, with 2 beds, open to all. Day trip to Store (1428 masl) or Lille (1279 masl) Jerta with fantastic views. Fishing opportunities in Beassetjarvi, about 8 km from Divihytta, south of Store Jerta. Other. Mobile Coverage. There is NO mobile coverage at the cabin. You will only be able to use your mobile phone at Frihetsli. Map overview.
