About this spot

In Vesterhavn by Nymindegab, Esehusene are located, two of which are furnished as lunch shelters that are generally always open. Here, a packed lunch or picnic can be enjoyed sheltered from wind and weather. A toilet is also found in one of the huts. ‘Ese’ means bait, from which the huts get their name. In the 1800s, the huts were used for mending fishing nets, storing fishing gear, and as accommodation for the girls who would put ‘bait’ on the fishermen’s lines. The small thatched huts are faithful copies of the originals from the 1800s, as these have been moved to Frilandsmusset near Copenhagen.
