About this spot
The areas on Avernakø consist partly of areas transferred from Fyns Amt in connection with the Municipal Reform in 2007, and partly of related areas acquired by the Danish Nature Agency in 2009. The areas are located approximately 1 km south of Avernak By. On Avernakø, the protection of natural areas that are habitats for several red-listed species is highly prioritized. Nature management will continue at a high level to ensure the flora and fauna already present in the area. Among these, the European fire-bellied toad can be highlighted, which has good opportunities to forage, breed, and overwinter in the areas. In the future, there will also be a focus on maintaining the exciting landscape character and the exciting scenic recreational opportunities associated with, among other things, the marine foreland. A shelter, fire pit, toilet, and packed lunch house are currently being constructed in the area.
