Booking and payment for accommodation and provisions: It is now possible to book/reserve a bed at our cabins. Approximately half of the bed capacity at the cabin is allocated for this. Bed reservations can be made via each individual cabin on UT.no or on DNT hyttebestilling. Provisions are paid using the new DNT app. It is important to note that bed reservations are only valid until 7 PM on the day you have booked. If you wish to pay after your stay, use the new DNT app. This can be downloaded from Play or App Store. Before your trip, we recommend the checklist. Should difficulties arise with payment/using the payment app, you will find information on how to contact us at the cabin. Local trail report/board for Vollasetra: Some trees/uprooted trees have been reported across the trail. Be careful and keep your distance. Vollasetra is an idyllic and romantic mountain farmstead located on the route between Sunndalen and Storlidalen, and is an exciting starting point for both day trips and peak hikes to popular Ekkertind and Kråkvasstind. The hike up from Vollan farm at the top of Sunndalen takes about 1.5 hours. Vollasetra is also an exciting destination for families with small children who wish to enjoy one or more days of play and exploration in beautiful nature. Already on the trail up to Vollasetra, there is much to experience: birds, small animals, beautiful plants, and in autumn mushrooms and berries. The blueberries at Vollasetra are simply fantastic! Many families choose to arrive on Friday and spend the weekend with a trip to, among other places, Ekkertinden - a memory for life for both old and young. The mountain farmstead is located above Vollan Gård at the top of Sunndal. The farm was built around 1860, and has been restored by Kristiansund og Nordmøre Turistforening. All work has been done with the aim of preserving the houses as close to the original as possible. Several of the houses were in very poor condition, so a great effort has been made to rebuild the farmstead. The four houses and the mountain pasture are an attraction in themselves. VG described beautiful Vollasetra and the mountain farmstead a few years ago as one of the most romantic places you can visit. The area is rich in fish, and day trip destinations are many. Sunndal’s answer to Preikestolen; Ekkertinden 1189 meters above sea level, Graslitinden 1522 meters above sea level, and Kråkvasstinden (Sandåhøa) 1700 meters above sea level are nice peak hikes that you can reach from the cabin. For those who truly wish to take it easy, Volladalen itself with all its delights is a good way to spend the day. Selet is the main house in the farmstead; it contains a kitchen and living room, and 1 sleeping place. In Fjøset (the barn), there are 3 bedrooms with space for 12 people, and there is also an outdoor toilet and provision room here. In Eldhuset (the smokehouse), there is a separate kitchen solution and 6 sleeping places. In Øyabua, the smallest house on the mountain farm, there is space for 3, and here too there is a gas burner and cooking facilities. Location: The route between Storlidalen and Vollasetra and further to Gjøra connects the trail network in Trollheimen with our cabins and routes on Dovre and Sunndalsfjella. Northward, there is a marked route to Bårdsgården, from where one can continue into the trail network in Trollheimen. From Vollasetra, there is a marked route southward down to Vollan, further to Gjøra, and from there onto the trail network on Dovre- and Sunndalsfjella, for example on the Gjøra - Gammelsetra route. Registration in guestbook/payment for stay: Upon arrival at the cabin, sign into the guestbook and settle up before departure. Feel free to use DNT’s payment app! With DNT Hyttebetaling on your mobile, cabin-to-cabin trips become even easier! The app also works in cabins without mobile coverage - you then enter your purchases offline at the cabin and pay via the app on your mobile when you get coverage. The DNT key: Some of our cabins are locked with a DNT key. We have several sales points for the key; see overview and information on our website (scroll down a bit) here. If you land by plane at Kvernberget, you can pay for the key in advance and receive a code for the key box we have there. Vollasetra is open, i.e., not locked with a DNT key. Provisions: At the cabin, you will always find a good selection of canned goods and accessories for dinner, and dry goods for breakfast and packed lunch. Biscuits and chocolate for coffee are also available in the assortment. The cabin is open to everyone. Selet, Eldhuset, and Øyabua are equipped with a gas hob and everything you need to prepare and serve food. Information about the cabin, provisions, and other practical details can be found in Selet. WC in Fjøset. Reserve a bed at Vollasetra here: DNT hyttebestilling Electricity/mobile: The cabin has 12V electricity for lighting and charging possibilities. The cabin has mobile coverage. Regarding mobile charging, we sometimes experience some technical challenges. We therefore recommend a power bank as a backup. Beds/accommodation: There are 23 beds at the cabin. In KNT’s cabins, we use a sleeping sheet or personal bedding (pillowcase, duvet cover, and sheet). Sleeping bags are not allowed inside the cabins due to hygiene and bed bug issues. Dog: If you visit Vollasetra with a dog, Øyabua should be used. The other houses must be dog-free due to consideration for allergy sufferers. The dog must not be in the cabin unsupervised, and must not go into beds. Water: A stream runs approximately 50 meters north of Selet’s north wall on the trail towards Ekkertinden. If this stream is dry, water is available in the river about 100 meters north of Selet. Follow the path past Øyabua. Tent by the cabin: Tenting is not facilitated. If you are sleeping in a tent, remember to pay for a day visit/tent, and that the tent should be placed a good distance from the cabin.
