About this spot
Balabu is one of three day trip cabins in Sogndal municipality. The cabin is located in Balestrand and stands at Balastølen, at about 400 meters above sea level. From Balabu, you have a unique view over the meeting between Sognefjorden and Fjærlandsfjorden. The day trip cabin is a low-threshold offer for hikers - a place to eat your packed lunch, get some warmth, and browse books. Each cabin has a Nynorsk hiking library with many different books. The project is a collaboration between Sogn og Fjordane county municipality, Sparebankstiftinga / Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane, and the municipalities themselves.
