Olalia is idyllically situated with a great view south towards Hauganutene. There are three cabins on the farmyard: Olalia Fjellstove, the emergency cabin, and Olabu. Fjellstova is normally locked, but is open with a café and accommodation during periods in summer, autumn, and winter. The emergency cabin and Olabu can be visited all year round. The cabins can be reached from several directions, including from Rus in Etne, Litledalen, Helgeland/Fjellstøl in Sandeid, or from Opheim (Olalivegen). OLALIA FJELLSTOVE Haugesund Turistforening’s largest cabin with 45 beds. The old Olalia was built and inaugurated in 1939. It was eventually demolished and rebuilt in the same form, with a re-opening in 2014. Much of the old was incorporated into Fjellstova, such as some of the old timber, the sliding doors between the lounge with fireplace and the dining room. Opening hours summer 2026 Olalia Fjellstove is open June 26 - August 16. Café open daily from June 27, 11 AM - 4 PM. The cabin is open during the winter season, in summer, and into autumn. Volunteer hosts keep the cabin open and run the café. When open on weekends, guests are welcome from Fridays at 7 PM. A room overview for Olalia Fjellstove can be found here. OLALIA SIKRINGSHYTTE Built in 2012. Self-service cabin with a standard assortment in the pantry. The cabin is unlocked. The cabin has a total of 30 beds. There are 12 beds distributed among 3 rooms (2 bunk beds per room), and 18 beds on the 2nd floor. A room overview for the 1st floor can be found here. The cabin is located on a hill with a good overview of the Olali area. Beds in the rooms on the main floor and six of the beds in the loft can be pre-booked. Day visitors and guests who have not pre-booked are welcome. Please agree on bed distribution if there are many visitors. DNT-key In spring 2026, all cabins of Haugesund Turistforening in Etne- and Saudafjella will be locked with a DNT-key. The DNT-key is only for members and for many is the most important membership benefit. You can buy the key in DNT’s outdoor stores and tour centers, at dntbutikken.no, and at staffed DNT cabins. Here you will find a list of sales points around Norway. OLABU Built in 1975. The cabin consists of one room; it has 4 beds, a kitchen, and a dining table. Can be pre-booked! There is no pantry stock in this cabin; it can be collected at Fjellstova when it is open, or from the emergency cabin just above. Olabu is adapted for dogs. The water is shut off in winter. Guests use the toilet at Olalia Fjellstove. EQUIPMENT The cabins are equipped with what you need for cooking and your stay, including kitchenware, tableware, and pantry supplies. Guests arrange their own cooking, washing up, floor cleaning, and tidying inside and out. Remember a sleeping sheet or bed linen. Sleeping bags are not allowed. How to use a self-service or unstaffed DNT cabin DOG If you bring a dog, you can either stay overnight at Olabu or in a room in the outhouse. The rooms in the outhouse only have electricity when Olalia Fjellstove is open/in use. There are two rooms, one with 2 beds and one with a single bed. When using the dog rooms, you only pay for one person. This applies regardless of whether several people use the two beds in dog room 2, or only one person uses the single bed in dog room 1. Guests in the outhouse rooms use the toilet and kitchen at Fjellstova when it is open, or the emergency cabin. Remember leash laws. In Vindafjord municipality, there is a leash law from April 1 - August 20. In the rest of Etnefjellene/Etne municipality, there is a leash law from April 1 to October 31. Respect leash laws and grazing animals. PAYMENT AND BOOKING On DNT Cabin Booking (or on the “Book accommodation” button on this page) you can book a bed at the cabin in advance of your trip. If you book a bed in advance, you are entitled to it as long as you arrive at the cabin by 7 PM. The mountain cabins are open to everyone regardless of whether they have booked a bed in advance or not. If you have not booked your stay in advance, you must remember to pay for your stay afterwards. Pay for food and accommodation in the DNT app At self-service and unstaffed DNT cabins, you can easily register and pay for accommodation and pantry supplies in the DNT app. Have you pre-booked? Then the accommodation itself has already been paid for – register only pantry supplies in the app. Remember to download the app before your trip! The app also works without coverage. (Ex: A Friday stay must be cancelled by Sunday 11:59 PM at the latest). Cancellations made later than 5 days (0-4 days) before the arrival date do not entitle to a refund.
