Booking and payment for accommodation and provisions: It is now possible to book/reserve a bed in our cabins. Approximately half of the bed capacity is allocated for this in the cabin. Bed reservations can be made via each individual cabin on UT.no or via DNT cabin booking. Provisions are paid for using the new DNT app. It is important to note that bed reservations are only valid until 19:00 on the day you have booked. If you wish to pay after your stay, use the new DNT app. This can be downloaded from Play or App Store. Before your trip, we recommend the checklist. Should difficulties arise with payment/using the payment app, you will find information on how to contact us at the cabin. Local trail report: None. Hardbakkhytta is the tenth cabin on Fjordruta when you start from Kristiansund airport. Most of the cabins and tours on Fjordruta are easily accessible and child-friendly. Fjordruta also has the status of SignaTur. The cabin is part of several triangle tours. SignaTur is a collection of Norway’s finest long-distance tours – carefully selected, quality-assured, and highly recommended by DNT. More information about Fjordruta and its status as SignaTur can be found at fjordruta.no. Location: Hardbakkhytta was built in the summer of 1998. The cabin is situated high and freely by a small tarn with fantastic views in all directions, especially to the south, where one can see an unbroken mountain range all the way from Trollheimen in the east to Romsdalsfjella in the west. To the north, one can see the landscape in the northern part of Fjordruta, and the sea. Registration in the guest book/payment for stay: Upon arrival at the cabin, you write your name in the guest book and settle your payment before departure. Feel free to use DNT’s payment app! With DNT Cabin Payment on your mobile, hut-to-hut trips become even easier! The app also works in cabins without mobile coverage - you then enter your purchases offline at the cabin and pay via the app on your mobile when you get coverage. The DNT key: Some of our cabins are locked with a DNT key. We have several sales points for the key; see overview and information on our website (scroll down a bit) here. If you land by plane at Kvernberget, you can pay for the key in advance and receive a code for the key box we have there. The cabin is open, i.e., not locked with a DNT key. Provisions: At the cabin, you will always find a good selection of canned goods and accessories for dinner, and dry goods for breakfast and packed lunches. Biscuits and chocolate for coffee are also available. About the cabin: The cabin is located approximately in the middle of the southern Fjordruta route, and is easily accessible from Valsøybotn in the north, and from Bøverdalen in the south, with marked trails. The nearest cabin to the east is Grytbakksetra, about 5 hours away, and to the west, Tverrlihytta, 5 hours away. Be aware that the entrance in winter can be filled with snow, all the way up to the roof. You will find a shovel under the canopy above the entrance. There is also a construction shovel hanging on the wall. Use this when the snow is hard and could damage the snow shovels. Steinbua/Emergency cabin was built in the summer of 2006. It is located approximately 60 m from the main cabin, in a northeast direction. Steinbua is an emergency cabin for the main cabin, i.e., a place to seek refuge if the cabin were to be hit by fire. Furthermore, Steinbua also functions as an annex for the main house during peak visitation times, especially in summer and autumn. The key hangs by the entrance door inside the main house. If this should be unavailable in an emergency, an emergency key can be found above the door in Steinbua. Since Steinbua is furnished as one large bedroom, no food should be prepared there, but equipment for boiling water and some instant provisions can be found there. Be aware that drinking water must be fetched from the tarn in front of the main cabin, which is the drinking water source for Hardbakkhytta. The pond next to Steinbua is our swimming spot. Log entries and settlements are made in the main cabin. The cabin is open all year and is equipped with a gas hob and everything needed to prepare and serve food. Power/mobile: The cabin has 12V power for lighting and charging facilities. The cabin has mobile coverage. Regarding mobile charging, we occasionally experience some technical challenges. We therefore recommend a power bank as a backup. Beds/accommodation: There are a total of 23 beds in the main cabin and emergency cabin. In KNT’s cabins, we use a sleeping bag liner or brought-along bedding (pillowcase, duvet cover, and sheet). Sleeping bags are not permitted inside the cabins due to cleanliness and bed bug issues. Dog: A separate dog room is designated for the dog and its owner. We ask that dogs are not brought into living rooms or other bedrooms out of consideration for allergy sufferers. Water: Water is fetched in summer from the water near the cabin. Regarding water in winter, we strongly recommend breaking a hole in the ice with an axe instead of melting snow. Often, it does not require much effort to get down to drinking water this way. Waste/Garbage: If possible, take waste/garbage back from your trip. Information about waste/garbage disposal can be found in the information binder in the cabin. Tent: There are no designated tent sites. If you are staying in a tent, remember to pay for day visits/tents, and that tents should be placed a good distance from the cabin. For stays at the cabin after 18:00, regular overnight accommodation must be paid for. Fishing: If you want to try your fishing rod while on your trip.
