Booking and payment for accommodation and provisions: It is now possible to book/reserve a bed in our cabins. Approx. half of the bed capacity is allocated for this in the cabin. Bed reservations can be made via each individual cabin on UT.no or on DNT hyttebestilling. Provisions are paid for using the new DNT-app. It is important to note that bed reservations are only valid until 19:00 on the day you have booked. If you wish to pay after your stay, use the new DNT-app. This can be downloaded from Play or App-store. Before your trip, we recommend the checklist. Should you encounter difficulties with payment/using the payment app, you will find information on how to contact us at the cabin. Local trail report: None. Grytbakksetra is the ninth cabin on Fjordruta when you start from Kristiansund airport. Most of the cabins and hikes on Fjordruta are easily accessible and child-friendly. Fjordruta also has status as a SignaTur. SignaTur is a collection of Norway’s finest long-distance hikes – carefully selected, quality-assured, and highly recommended by DNT. More information about Fjordruta and its status as SignaTur can be found at fjordruta.no. Grytbakksetra is one of several cabins we recommend as especially child- and family-friendly. Location: Grytbakksetra consists of pleasant mountain farm houses and is located in child-friendly, beautiful surroundings by a river with waterfalls and pools, and with views towards Trollheimen and Sunndalsfjella. There are several nice hiking opportunities to the peaks in the area around the cabin. In summer, the hike from Grytbakksetra to Hardbakkhytta is a great trip with many swimming opportunities along the way. There are marked trails to Rindal, Øygard, and to the cabins Storlisetra and Hardbakkhytta. The cabin is located in an area with reliable snow cover, and a winter trip here is recommended. Registration in guest book/payment for stay: Upon arrival at the cabin, you sign into the guest book and settle up before departure. Feel free to use DNT’s payment app! With DNT Cabin Payment on your mobile, hut-to-hut hiking becomes even easier! The app also works in cabins without mobile coverage – you then enter your purchases offline at the cabin and pay via the app on your mobile when you get coverage. The DNT-key: Some of our cabins are locked with a DNT-key. We have several sales points for the key; see overview and information on our websites (scroll down a bit) here. If you land by plane at Kvernberget, you can pay for the key in advance and receive a code for the key box we have there. The cabin is open, i.e., not locked with a DNT-key. Provisions: At the cabin, you will always find a good selection of canned goods and accessories for dinner, and dry goods for breakfast and your packed lunch. Biscuits and chocolate for coffee are also available in the assortment. About the cabin: The main house is divided into two wings. The right wing has drying facilities in the hallway, a provision room, two bedrooms, as well as a living room and kitchen. In the left wing, you will find a bedroom, a loft, a living room/kitchen, and a dog room. It is also possible to sleep in the Annex below the cabin. In the Stable, you will find the outdoor toilet and a separate bedroom with a wood stove. Here there are also some tools and equipment. In the same building, you will find firewood and waste management. TIP: compress tin cans so they don’t take up as much space. The cabin is open all year and is equipped with a gas hob and everything needed to prepare and serve food. Electricity/mobile: The cabin has 12V electricity for lighting and charging possibilities. The cabin has mobile coverage. Regarding mobile charging, we sometimes experience some technical challenges. We therefore recommend a power bank as a backup. Beds/accommodation: There are 23 beds in the cabin. In KNT’s cabins, we use a sleeping bag liner or brought-along bedding (pillowcase, duvet cover, and sheet). Sleeping bags are not permitted for use inside the cabins due to hygiene and bed bug issues. Dog: Dogs are allowed in one of the bedrooms in the left wing of the main building. The dog must only stay there under supervision to ensure it is not in the beds. A dog crate is available in the bedroom. Otherwise, dogs must be outside the cabin and not in common areas due to consideration for allergy sufferers. We ask that this be respected. Water: You will find water in the stream below the cabin. Follow signs from the cabin. Rubbish/Waste: If possible, take rubbish/waste back from your trip. Information on rubbish/waste management can be found in the information binder in the cabin. Tent: It is not set up for tenting, but it may be possible to tent on the mountain pasture. Remember to pay for day visits/tents, and that tents should be placed a good distance from the cabin. For stays at the cabin after 18:00, regular overnight accommodation must be paid for. Fishing: If you want to try your fishing rod when you’re on a trip.
