About this spot

The forest is a mix of older and newer deciduous tree stands, but also larger areas with conifers, including some enclosures with self-sown trees after major clearings. The terrain is very hilly after the last ice age. Spidsbjerg at 65 m is the highest point. Traces of more recent and older past can be found. A section of Kongevejen from the latter part of the 1500s, located in the northeastern part of the forest, has been excavated, but with Gurre Castle ruin as a neighbor, much history is likely hidden under the forest soil. There are good opportunities for exercise events, e.g., orienteering. There is a nature center in the southeastern part of the forest; it is private but cooperates with Naturstyrelsen. There are activity courses with fixed red posts and a campsite with shelters in the southwestern part (requires booking). The forest is one of the wild camping areas.
