About this spot
Booking and payment for accommodation and provisions: It is now possible to book/reserve a bed at our cabins. Approximately half of the bed capacity at the cabin is allocated for this. Bed reservations can be made via each individual cabin on UT.no or on DNT hyttebestilling. Provisions are paid using the new DNT app. It is important to note that bed reservations are only valid until 7 PM on the day you have booked. If you wish to pay after your stay, use the new DNT app. This can be downloaded from Play or App Store. Before your trip, we recommend the checklist. Should difficulties arise with payment/using the payment app, you will find information on how to contact us at the cabin. Local trail report/board for Sætersetra: No reports. Location: Sætersetra is a small charming cabin located on the south side of Surnadalsdalføret. The cabin was privately owned before the Tourist Association took it over, and the interior still has traces of homely details. A large fireplace in the living room ensures that evenings at Sætersetra are truly pleasant. The cabin is located in forested terrain; right behind the cabin, the stream from Grytvatnet flows past. Here there is a nice swimming hole for those who wish to do their evening wash outdoors. If you want a fishing trip, you can follow the trail in the direction of Vindølbu for about 20 minutes, then you will reach Grytvatnet. Here there are good opportunities to catch a trout. If you go further, you can take a peak hike to the mountain Bollin; here you have a good view over Vindøldalen and towards Trollheimen. Hermannhytta, Sætersetra, and Vindølbu connect Fjordruta with the trail network and cabins in Trollheimen. From Sætersetra, it’s a three-hour walk northwest to Hermannhytta and further to Fjordruta, and south the trip to Vindølbu in Trollheimen takes four and a half hours. Registration in guestbook/payment for stay: Upon arrival at the cabin, sign into the guestbook and settle up before departure. Feel free to use DNT’s payment app! With DNT Hyttebetaling on your mobile, cabin-to-cabin trips become even easier! The app also works in cabins without mobile coverage - you then enter your purchases offline at the cabin and pay via the app on your mobile when you get coverage. The DNT key: Some of our cabins are locked with a DNT key. We have several sales points for the key; see overview and information on our website (scroll down a bit) here. If you land by plane at Kvernberget, you can pay for the key in advance and receive a code for the key box we have there. Sætersetra is open, i.e., not locked with a DNT key. Provisions: At the cabin, you will always find a selection of canned goods and accessories for dinner, and dry goods for breakfast and packed lunch. About the cabin: The cabin is open to everyone, and the kitchen is equipped with a gas hob and everything you need to prepare and serve food. Information about the cabin, provisions, and other practical details can be found in the cabin. WC: outdoor toilet. Reserve a bed at Sætersetra here: DNT hyttebestilling Electricity/mobile coverage: The cabin has no electricity. The cabin has mobile coverage. Beds/Accommodation: In the cabin, there are 2 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has double bunk beds (space for 4), and bedroom 2 has 2 single bunk beds (space for 4). It is also possible to place 1 person on the sofa in the living room. In KNT’s cabins, we use a sleeping sheet or personal bedding (pillowcase, duvet cover, and sheet). Sleeping bags are not allowed inside the cabins due to hygiene and bed bug issues. Dog: The cabin is not equipped for dogs, and dogs must therefore sleep outside. Dogs are not allowed in common areas/bedrooms; this is to accommodate allergy sufferers. We ask that this be respected. Water: Fetched from the stream approximately 100 meters from the cabin. Garbage: Our cabins have their own waste disposal arrangements, information on which you can find at the cabin. However, we encourage our guests to take their own garbage back from the trip. Tent: Tenting is not facilitated. If you are sleeping in a tent, remember to pay for a day visit/tent, and that the tent should be placed a good distance from the cabin. For stays at the cabin after 6 PM, standard overnight rates apply. Fishing: Do you want to try your fishing rod when you are on a trip? Here you can read more about mountain fishing in Surnadal municipality and Trollheimen. This cabin has received support from the proceeds of Norsk Tipping’s gaming funds.
