In the mountains. By the road. Always open! Welcome to Norway’s largest and most visited DNT lodge. Haukeliseter fjellstue is centrally located right by E134 on Haukelifjell, 1000 meters above sea level. North of the mountain lodge, you’ll find the mighty Hardangervidda National Park, and to the south lie the lush Ryfylke - and Setesdalsheiene. Opening hours. Haukeliseter fjellstue is always open - 365 days a year. Reception and restaurant opening hours can be found here. Rooms. The mountain lodge has 174 beds distributed across 48 rooms in various price categories, with different facilities and standards. Mountain rooms: Two- and four-bed rooms with private bathrooms and made-up beds. Breakfast and final cleaning are always included in the price. Self-catering rooms: shared rooms with bunk beds, an installed sink, and a mini-kitchen. Shower and toilet in the corridor. Bed linen must be brought or rented. The room is cleaned by the guest before departure. Stabbur/Kuskeloft: shared rooms with bunk beds and cooking facilities. Access to water, shower, and toilet in the neighboring building. For New Year’s, we only accept bookings via email. You can easily book your stay by sending an email to [email protected]. In the email, please state: Date of arrival and departure, Number of people in your party, Name, phone number, and email of the contact person in your party, Desired room standard, Whether you want breakfast, packed lunch, and/or New Year’s dinner. Christmas and Easter can be booked online as usual. During Easter, a minimum of three nights can be booked. Dogs. The mountain lodge has designated rooms where dogs are allowed (Kuskeloftet and certain mountain rooms). Please notify us that you are bringing a dog when booking, so you can be assigned one of the dog-friendly rooms. Additionally, dog crates are available in a heated basement room in Seterfløyen. Food with a view. Besides its location, the food served is a good reason to visit Haukeliseter fjellstue. Norwegian food tradition combined with locally sourced ingredients, modern flavors, and a fantastic view provides the basis for an unforgettable dining experience. Breakfast buffet - Haukeliseter fjellstue offers a traditional breakfast buffet with a large selection of freshly baked bread, local cold cuts, and other favorites. Mountain menu - à la carte menu with a selection of simple small dishes, complete main courses, and today’s dessert. Three-course dinner - Served every Friday and Saturday throughout the year. As you approach Haukeliseter fjellstue, it’s hard not to be tempted by the smell of freshly baked goods from Bakeri Nansen’s stone oven. Here you can buy fresh buns, freshly made rolls, and newly baked bread. During high season, the bakery outlet is located in the Nansen building. Otherwise, during the year, sales take place in the restaurant in the main building. Activities. Endless hiking opportunities. With Haukeliseter as your starting point, hiking possibilities are endless both summer and winter. Haukeliseter is a natural stopover for those who like to hike from cabin to cabin, but also perfect if you want to stay put and go on day trips in the local area. Courses and events. Throughout the year, a number of courses and events are arranged at the mountain lodge; kite courses, avalanche courses, winter courses, peak hiking courses, singles in the mountains, yoga, mountain festival, and much more. See the activity calendar here. Wilderness spa. At Haukeliseter, you will find a wilderness spa consisting of a wood-fired hot tub and a sauna with panoramic views of the mighty nature. Overnight guests can freely use the hot tub and sauna every Saturday. During high season, it is heated more often. Lavvo. In the courtyard, there is a lavvo where it is possible to light a fire and warm up after a long day of hiking, grill sausages, make coffee or simply enjoy good company. Equipment rental. Haukeliseter offers a wide selection of hiking equipment for rent. In the summer, you can rent kayaks, in addition to canoes and rowing boats. In winter, rental of mountain skis, avalanche equipment, snowshoes, hiking pulks, and children’s pulks, among others, is offered. See the full selection here.
