IMPORTANT! At least one person in the group must be a DNT member to get access to DNT’s standard key, which fits the cabin. The key can be purchased at Canyon Jakt og Fiske in Elvebakken by showing proof of membership. Location Farthest east in Alta municipality in Finnmark, at the top of Stabbursdalen, you will find this cabin. It is located on the old Postruta between Alta and Karasjok. Rooms The main cabin has an approximate floor area of 50 m2, and consists of two bedrooms named after the mountains surrounding the cabin. Vuorij and Čohkarášša each have 3 beds, and there are 5 in the loft. Furthermore, the cabin has a spacious common room with a kitchenette and a storage room inside the hallway with a simple bathroom. The cabin area has a total of 11 beds that can be pre-booked, and 2 drop-in beds in the loft. The emergency cabin is a small cabin with two beds, a wood-burning stove, gas, and basic cooking equipment. It is dog-friendly. The emergency cabin is not locked as it is used as an emergency shelter, but we recommend pre-booking for those with dogs to secure a spot. Equipment The main cabin is well-equipped with a gas stove and oven, coffee pot, cooking equipment, and tableware. There is firewood at the cabin and in the storage room. The emergency cabin has a wood-burning stove and gas + necessary equipment. The barrel sauna is locked with DNT’s standard key. Water There is piped water in the main cabin that can be used in summer; otherwise, water is fetched from the river/by breaking the ice below the cabin.
