About this spot

On top of Kvernesvola in Rendalen municipality, you will find Brannvakthytta. The cabin was built in 1904 by Ytre Rendal municipality and was used as a fire lookout cabin for many years. A fire warden was stationed at the cabin and lived there during the summer to look for smoke that could indicate a fire. A telephone line ran from the village, allowing for quick alerts in case of a forest fire. Remains of this can still be seen today. Now the cabin is open to everyone and is a popular destination. The view from here over Rendalen and the Sølen massif is magnificent. A little south of the cabin, you will find Bekkedalskoia. This is another open cabin from Statskog.
