About this spot

The day-trip cabin at Koldal - Fusa/Bjørnafjorden. Vetlavardhytto is located 326 meters above sea level in the uncultivated land at Koldal by the hiking trail towards Øyrane. The day-trip cabins are a county municipal project and have been realized through a collaboration with funds from the county municipality, Sparebankstiftinga i Sogn og Fjordane, BKK, Bjørnafjorden municipality, gaming funds, and volunteer work from the tour associations in the municipality. Vetlavardhytto is one of two day-trip cabins in Bjørnafjorden municipality. Both of the two new day-trip cabins at Borgafjellet and Koldal are now open to the public. Parking is at Fjorden Arena with approximately 40 parking spaces. The distance from the parking to the cabin is approximately 1.9 km. The trail branches off from Stallabrotvegen a little further up. At a normal pace, the trip takes a good 40 minutes. The trail has a medium difficulty level. Steady ascent through undulating terrain. The trail up to Vetlevardhytta is largely stone-paved, and the wettest marsh has been fitted with a footbridge. The local tour associations supervise the cabins, which are owned by Bjørnafjorden municipality. The municipality encourages the public to follow guidelines for use, both for the cabins themselves and the surrounding areas. The cabin has a small wood-burning stove, a library with New Norwegian children’s books, and benches indoors and outdoors. It’s nice to eat your packed lunch and take a break at the day-trip cabin. Overnight stays are not allowed. Leave the cabin as you would wish to find it yourself, clean and tidy. Take your rubbish, bottles, etc., home with you. Have a good trip! Contact Bjørnafjorden municipality for questions and feedback on the cabin.
