Utsletteslottet - dagsturhytta i Stord kommune

The day trip cabin in Stord has been named Utsletteslottet and is located by Utslettefjellet (252 meters above sea level) in the Sagvåg district. From the top, there is a beautiful view in all directions. The cabin has a small wood-burning stove, a library with Nynorsk children’s books, and seating benches inside and out. It’s a nice place to eat your packed lunch and take a good break. Overnight stays are not permitted at the cabin. Leave the cabin in a way you would wish to find it yourself, clean and inviting. Take your trash, bottles, etc., home with you. There is no access to water. You must bring your own. Sagvåg Bygdalag is responsible for supervision of the cabin. The owner of the cabin is Stord municipality. Contact Stord municipality if you have feedback. Hiking route to the cabin: Parking in a large parking lot on the uphill side of Nysæter sports ground. Here, the day trip cabin is signposted. The trail starts right by the building at the parking lot. The trail goes steeply up a gully with partly stone and earth ground. The trip involves approximately 200 meters of elevation gain over 1100 meters, so it’s quite steep, especially at the start. It’s good to turn around and enjoy the view and take a breather. After about 400 meters of ascent, one keeps right where it flattens out and the trail crosses a marshy area. Follow the trail here for about 600 meters before turning left up a moderate ascent for the last 300 meters to the cabin. Use good footwear, especially when it’s wet. It is about 1100 meters to walk, but since there is a good ascent, it will take 35 min at a normal pace, 50 with ample time. An alternative route to the day trip cabin is directly from Fitjarvegen, approx. no. 200. Possible parking and marked route up to Utslettefjellet. The day trip cabin project is a collaboration between Vestland County Council, Sparebankstiftinga / Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane, and the individual municipality.
