Solhaug - the beautiful day trip cabin in Ulvik is located in Åsen, a forested area with good views over the village. This is a cabin that focuses on easy access, and one has the opportunity to extend the trip if desired. In Åsen, there are several kilometers of forest roads that are enjoyable to take both on foot and by bike. Nice viewpoints can be found both along Osafjorden and towards Birjetangen. The cabin has a small wood-burning stove, a library with Nynorsk children’s books, and seating benches inside and out. It’s a nice place to eat your packed lunch and take a good break. Overnight stays are not permitted at the cabin. Leave the cabin in a way you would wish to find it yourself, clean and inviting. Take your trash, bottles, etc., home with you. There is no access to water. You must bring your own. Ulvik Turlag supervises the cabin. Contact Ulvik Turlag if you have feedback. The owner of the cabin is Ulvik municipality. Hiking routes to the cabin: You can reach the cabin from various starting points. * From Holmen sports facility. Parking and public toilet. Signs and markings 1.3 km to the cabin. It takes approx. 30 minutes at a leisurely pace up to Solhaug. * It is possible to do the trip as a round trip. There are several tractor roads and paths in the area. You will then come down to the road by Espedalen or Viknes and continue to the sports facility. The day trip cabin project is a collaboration between Vestland County Council, Sparebankstiftinga / Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane, and the individual municipality.
