Sandfløten

Sandfløten is a cozy cabin, owned by Vang Almenning, which is rented by HHT and functions as an unstaffed cabin. The cabin is also an excellent hiking destination for families with children, as it is a short walk from the road. LOCATION: Sandfløten is located along Rondanestien near Lavlia, northeast of Brumundkampen. EQUIPMENT: New from June 2026; The beds have duvets, pillows, and blankets, but everyone must use their own sleeping bag liner or bedding (pillowcase, duvet cover, and sheet). Sandfløten has a main room with beds, a kitchen table with stools, and a kitchen counter. Firewood for heating and propane burners for cooking. There is now also a solar panel that provides lighting and possibilities for charging with a USB cable (see picture of USB input). In addition, there is a small drying room. The cabin has two bunk beds with a wide bed at the bottom and a regular narrow bed at the top. You fetch water from the river, which is approximately 50 meters from the cabin. You should boil the water before use. ACTIVITIES: Outside the cabin there is a campfire site. Lavåa flows idyllically past right by the cabin, and from the cabin window, there are good opportunities to observe wildlife grazing on the marsh. This is an extra pleasant “cabin gem” both indoors and outdoors, including its location. The trip to Lavåfalla, barely two km from the cabin, is an exciting experience for young and old; here one walks through wonderful nature! The walking time is estimated at three hours from Snippkoia, six hours from Målia (nearest cabins to the south), and four hours from Halgutusveen (nearest cabin to the north) along Rondanestien. DOG: You can bring a dog to all HHT’s cabins. At Sandfløten, a dog crate is provided. We ask dog owners to show consideration for any other visitors. BOOKING AND PAYMENT: At HHT’s cabins, all beds can be booked in advance, but hikers who have not booked may arrive. If you have not booked and paid in advance, you can pay with the DNT app. Pay for accommodation in the DNT app In self- and unstaffed DNT cabins, you easily register and pay for accommodation in the DNT app. Remember to download the app before you go on your trip! The cabin is locked with a DNT key. Remember that at least one person in your party must be a member to deposit for a key. If you have a DNT key, you cannot be turned away from the cabin. HISTORY: Sandfløten, like other cabins in this area, was originally established in connection with logging operations in 1929-30. It is named after its location near a sandbank in Lavåa, which flows right by. The cabin we see today was built in 1953. Rondanestien was laid along the path past the cabin several years before HHT gained access to it, due to private rental conditions, but in 1992 we were able to enter into an agreement with Vang Almenning and open the cabin as an unstaffed quarter with 6 beds. Sandfløten was restored in the summer of 2016 through a good collaboration between the owner Vang Almenning and the volunteers of HHT.
