Lysefjorden tourist cabin is a fantastic place for anyone who wants to experience Lysefjorden in Ryfylke! The cabin was completely renovated in all the colors of the rainbow and with spectacular street art in 2021. The tourist cabin is a perfect starting point for trips to popular Kjerag and for hiking Flørlitrappene, which is the world’s longest wooden staircase with its 4444 steps. It is also located halfway along the Lysefjorden Rundt hike. Location The tourist cabin is located in Lysebotn, at the very end of the beautiful Lysefjorden. Here, nature is so mighty that even the tallest can feel quite small at the foot of towering and steep mountains. With its location right by the ferry quay, the tourist cabin is a good starting point for both short and longer trips. The tourist cabin is a lovely place for families with children, with playground equipment and a trampoline in the garden. You can travel by car, bus, and boat. Lysefjorden tourist cabin is also a good starting point for trips to the tourist cabins Langavatn, Nilsebu, and Stakken. If you come with your own boat, you can moor it in the harbor right below the cabin. Parking is also available if you arrive by car. About the cabin Lysefjorden tourist cabin is a staffed tourist cabin that is open from May to October. Here you will be served delicious meals at the pleasant cafe in the main building. After a good meal, you can relax in the cozy fireplace lounge. Perhaps you will also see base jumpers soaring from Kjerag plateau? It is possible to book accommodation in rooms with private shower and toilet, or more affordable accommodation in multi-bed rooms. The tourist cabin is also a perfect starting point for a hike to the majestical Kjerag in Lysefjorden. And if you wish to climb the world’s longest wooden staircase, Flørlitrappene. In Lysebotn, there are also many fun activities such as frisbee golf, and you can go pole hunting, fish, swim, paddle, and cycle. A great tip for families with children is to walk the Energiløypa in Lysebotn. This is a marked trail with tasks that you solve along the way. The trail takes you to the hidden gems in the valley at the very end of the fjord. Lysefjorden around Lysefjorden tourist cabin is one of the highlights of the spectacular Lysefjorden Rundt trip. At Lysefjorden tourist cabin, there are several dog rooms arranged for both dogs and dog owners, but contact us in advance to check if one of these is available. Out of consideration for allergies, hygiene, and potentially others’ comfort with dogs, it is important that you do not bring your dog into other common areas of the cabin, except where it has been arranged. Thank you for cleaning up after both yourself and your dog upon departure, so it will be pleasant for the next guest. Booking and payment For advance booking, you pay for your stay when you book. History What is today Lysefjorden tourist cabin was originally a crew mess for workers at the power company Lyse. DNT Stavanger and omegn took over the mess from Lyse in 2013 to welcome hikers and other visitors in Lysebotn. In 2021, the entire cabin was completely renovated and painted in all the colors of the rainbow. Street artist Renate Hermansen has adorned the cabin with unique murals, so there’s plenty to look forward to exploring! At Lysefjorden tourist cabin, everyone is welcome.
