About this spot

The shelter belongs to Aarhus Municipality and can be booked via Book Naturen. The shelter is unconventionally made of willow weaving, thatched with birch twigs, and resembles a gigantic wren’s nest. It is hidden in the vegetation and offers views over the sea. On the beach in front of the shelter, there is a fire pit. The shelter cannot be expected to be waterproof. Practical information: • If you have booked a shelter, you have automatically booked the associated fire pit. • You must bring your own firewood. • You are allowed to collect dry branches from the forest floor. • In the parking area at Mariendal Strand, about 200 meters from there, there is a primitive forest toilet. • Drinking water is not available nearby, so remember to bring it from home. Directions: In addition to by car, the area can also be easily reached by bike or on foot, for example via the recreational Tusindfrydsrute. Furthermore, there is a bus stop at Ajstrup Strand, about 1500 meters from the shelter. The shelter is hidden on the slope about 200 meters south of the parking area at Mariendal Strand. GPS: 56°03’07.2”N 10°16’02.3”E.
