Himmelsøen, Fjordternen

Himmelsøen and its surroundings are a former gravel extraction area that has been transformed into a nature and outdoor recreation area. Everyone is welcome to stay overnight in the three shelters located by the lake. There is also a campfire site, picnic tables, and a toilet building nearby. The Himmelsø area is part of Milen, Roskilde’s urban recreational and cultural landscape. The area has rich birdlife, and there are hiking, cycling, and horse riding trails around the lake, as well as facilities such as a swimming beach. Fishing is allowed in parts of the lake. There is parking available nearby, and there is disabled parking close to the shelters and the swimming beach.
