Himmelsøen, Darup grusgrav

The beach is located by Himmelsøen, which is an approx. 22-hectare freshwater lake formed in a former gravel pit. Roskilde Kommune manages the area by Himmelsøen and is working to make the area more attractive by, among other things, creating the current swimming beach and associated facilities. Just 40 meters from the beach is a large car park. Closer to the beach, there is disabled parking, from which a disabled-friendly ramp leads right down to the water’s edge. North of the disabled parking area, there are toilet facilities with drinking water. Along the beach, picnic tables, shelters, and a fire pit are set up for free use. South of the beach, there is a larger area with “room for play”, including a Tarzan course for children and playful adults.
