Tents must be out of sight from operational and residential buildings, including, for example, neighbors and campsites, as well as roads. The use of open fire is permitted at the designated fire pits in the specified forests. The use of field kitchens is only allowed if a storm stove with an enclosed burner (e.g., Trangia) is used. All necessary precautions must be taken regarding fire hazard, which means, for example, that the storm stove must not be placed on leaves, needles, or other flammable material – preferably place the storm stove on a stone or other similar non-flammable material. Be aware that the specified forest may be closed for the use of open fire, fire pits, etc., due to drought, in which case the use of a storm stove is also not permitted. Any closure of forests with free camping will be indicated on Naturstyrelsen’s website and possibly with a notice.
