About this spot
Stemmeværkspladsen by Ansager and Varde rivers is a scenic area with beautiful nature and interesting cultural history. Here you will find shelters for overnight stays, a bonfire house, and an exhibition. You can get here by car, bicycle, canoe, horseback, or by hiking. The exhibition tells about the nature in the area and how the now defunct canal and weir sent water further down to Karlsgårdeværket to produce electricity. From Stemmeværkspladsen, you can hike along Kanalstien, which follows the now defunct canal. There is also a path to Ansager and Vejlevej. By Varde Å, there is a landing stage for canoes. There is a toilet and access to water. It is a good idea to bring your own firewood, as wood is only occasionally available on site. Contact: [email protected]
