About this spot
The plantation contains a primitive campsite with shelters, which can be used freely. Fanø is covered by the rules for “Free tenting”, which means one may stay overnight in the plantation provided a few rules are followed, as described on Naturstyrelsen’s website - search for “Free tenting”. The plantation also has an extensive network of hiking trails, where one can experience the dune landscapes and the bird decoys at Albue and Sønderho. However, the bird decoys are not owned by Natursturelsen. In the western part of the plantation, there is a lovely forest playground, which is widely used by the island’s day-care institutions and many families with children on forest outings. Additionally, dogs can be let off leash in the dog forest, which is also located in the plantation.
