Klosterskov Nord

The forest has a varied bird and animal life. Here, one might be lucky enough to spot the normally nocturnal Pine Marten, a White-tailed Eagle hunting, a Common Frog hopping around, or a Wigeon on one of the lakes. From the two parking lots on the forest’s western edge on Mellemvangsvej, there is access via gravel roads and paths into the forest. A marked yellow hiking trail guides visitors on a 2.5 km round trip around the area. Following the yellow hiking trail, you pass a lookout tower in the northern grazing enclosure and a campfire hut in the central part of the forest. From the lookout tower, there is a beautiful view over the open grazing areas between the forest and lakes, where cattle keep the overgrowth down. From here, one might be lucky enough to see red deer in the forest. To get from the yellow route to the lookout tower, one must walk a short distance into a grazing enclosure where grazing cattle are present. Remember to keep dogs on a leash throughout the forest, including in the grazing enclosure. Free camping is allowed throughout the forest, including in the grazed areas. All campfire activities must take place in the campfire hut. There is a tap at the campfire hut, which can be used freely. There is no toilet in the forest. Although there are no designated riding trails in the forest, riding is permitted on paths and roads in Klosterskov Nord. Sailing is prohibited on Tranemose grøft, which runs in a north-south direction through Klosterskov Nord.
