About this spot
The shelter site belongs to Aarhus Kommune and is booked via Book Naturen. The shelter site was built with inspiration from the Stone Age and consists of five shelters, numbered I, II, III, IV, and V, which are arranged in a cozy semicircle, facing the bonfire site and with a beautiful view over Egå Engsø. In front of the shelters is a communal bonfire site. On this page, you can book shelters IV and V. Shelter V has a lift system and provides greater accessibility. You can bring your own tarp, or you can borrow one from Aarhus Kommune. If you wish to borrow a tarp from Aarhus Kommune, please send an email to [email protected] at least 10 days before your trip. You will then receive information on where and when you can pick up and return the tarp. Note that the bonfire site is shared with other users. Around the shelter site winds an exciting experience path through small tree growths. Along the way, you will encounter beautiful wooden animal sculptures, depicting animals a Stone Age person might have met in the forests. The vegetation around the site includes edible fruits, nuts, and berries, reflecting what was eaten in the Stone Age. Practical information: • You must bring your own firewood from home. • You are welcome to collect dry branches from the forest floor. • Waste bins are located at the shelter site. • In the vegetation behind the shelters, there is a primitive forest toilet. • There is no water at the site. Directions: There is an entrance to Egå Engsø from Viengevej – a Swedish red sign stands at the entrance. From the parking lot, follow the path along the lake, and you will arrive at the site after approx. 700 meters. It takes approx. 10 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the shelter site. It is possible to have the barrier opened if there are disabled participants at the event – only loading and unloading is permitted at the shelter site. Parking must take place in the parking lot.
