About this spot

Vest Stadil Fjord is a large, open meadow area with large lakes. The entire area is an abandoned drainage project, where today there is almost exclusively water and grazed meadows. Along the entire eastern edge, there is a horse riding, cycling, and hiking trail atop the old dike crown. There are a number of parking lots all around the fjord. The old head hunter - Jens Bjerg Thomsen - had his hunting lodge here. The hunting lodge has been renovated, and there are also bird watching towers, an information house, and good toilet facilities in several places. There are excellent opportunities to observe birdlife – especially geese and ducks. The area is a wildlife sanctuary and a Natura 2000 site. West of Husby Klitvej, there are several parking lots, including at Strandgården, Bækbygård, Odbjerg, and Sidselsbjerg. Strandgården is an old dune farm, where Ringkøbing Museum has both permanent and changing exhibitions. From Sidselbjerg, there is a magnificent view over both the fjord and the North Sea.
