Åsemosen Shelter

You will find the shelter in Åsemosen, which is a 62-hectare wetland area west of Verninge. Åsemosen borders Verninge Mose, and Assens Kommune, in close cooperation with the landowners in the area, has created a unique natural gem that also aims to reduce nitrogen emissions to our coastal waters. The shelter is located by a small lake with a nice view over the area. There are several marked hiking trails in both Åsemosen and Verninge Mose with their exciting bird and plant life. The path down to the shelter will be marked in April 2025. To keep the area open and light, it is grazed by cattle that can stay out all year round. The path to the shelter goes through the enclosure, but the shelter itself is fenced off so the cows do not have access to the shelter site. The shelter can be booked for 10 DKK per night per person through Bookenshelter.dk. If the shelter is not booked, it is also possible to stay overnight for free on a first-come, first-served basis. If users who have booked the shelter for that day arrive before 6 PM, you will have to yield the entire shelter to them. There is a campfire pit and campfire benches at the site. If there is firewood in the woodshed, you are welcome to use a limited quantity of it. It costs 20 DKK, which can be paid via MobilePay. Firewood is only provided occasionally, so if you want to be sure you can light a fire, you must bring your own firewood. Naturally, felling or cutting trees and bushes at the site is not permitted. The area is privately owned, and the shelter is owned by Assens Kommune.
