About this spot

In the former Troldhede lignite mine, lies “Ørkenarboretet”, which was established as experimental plantings to investigate which trees could be used to create forest in former lignite mines. Today, the arboretum lies as an exciting natural area with many different tree species around “Kulsøen” at the confluence of Vonå and Vorgod Å. The shelters are located on the north side of the lake with a good view over the lake. The shelter was built with support from A.P. Møller Fonden.
