About this spot

Address: Parking on Kanavej, 6823 Ansager. At the facility, you can sit with your coffee while watching the old watermill and canoes sail past in Ansager Å. Opposite is Hans Haahr Larsens Plads, which also offers a great view. Continuing out of Kanalvej, you will find the weir site (removed in connection with the restoration of Varde Å). Beautiful nature with 8 tables/benches, a toilet, a water tap, and a canoe landing for Varde Å. There are 5 shelters and 1 fire hut (book here: www.bookinaturen.dk) Ansager Church dates from the 13th century, and its additions are from the 18th & 19th centuries. Ansager Å has historical significance for the town; as early as around the year 1600, a watermill was built, which served as a grain mill until the 19th century. Since then, it served various trades for over 100 years. Today, the mill is a cultural site. If you follow the path across the island, past the old watermill, you will reach Søparken. Here, there is a lovely walk all the way around the lake. The path is paved with stone dust, making it easy to traverse. On site: Tables/benches BBQ area
