About this spot

Of all DNT Oslo og Omegn’s self-service cabins, Bjordalsbu is the highest with its 1580 meters above sea level. Its location makes the cabin an excellent starting point for exploring the terrain in the area. The fact that it is so high up offers good opportunities for nice spring ski tours, as the snow stays long in this area. We recommend taking the trip from Breistølen to Bjordalsbu - and from there to Iungsdalshytta, Kongshelleren, and Geiterygghytta. This is a trip in hilly terrain that offers many nice experiences. About the cabin Total number of sleeping places: 24 Number of beds available for booking: 10 Number of beds for drop-in: 14 The beds that can be pre-booked are numbered (see floor plans under Photos). Closed during some periods of the year: From mid-October to February 15, read more about the reason for closing the cabins. Equipment The cabin has everything you need in terms of equipment for cooking and a pleasant stay, such as full kitchen equipment, tableware, and bed linen. In addition, you will find a good selection of food in the provision room. There is no electricity at the cabin, but gas, wood heating, and candles as a light source. Guests arrange their own cooking, water fetching, dishwashing, floor washing, and otherwise tidying up the cabin inside and out. A sleeping sheet or personal bedding must always be used for overnight stays. Notices with cabin rules and prices can be found at the cabin. Read our guide: how to use a self-service or unstaffed DNT cabin Recipe booklet based on the provision store In a new project, DNT has worked on developing a recipe booklet based on the provision stores in self-service cabins. Here you will find a range of tempting and surprising dishes you can prepare when you visit our self-service cabins. Take a look at our recipe booklet. Payment Prices for accommodation and provisions We note that the cabin’s prices follow the price list of DNT Oslo og Omegn. Other DNT member associations may have different prices. Go to price list. Pre-booking via hyttebestilling.dnt It has never been easier to book a cabin trip at DNT cabins. Via hyttebestilling.dnt.no, you can easily see when the cabin is available, explore cabins on a map, and book a spot. DNT Oslo og Omegn allocates a limited number of beds for booking. The remaining beds will be open for drop-in. Arrive at the cabin before 7 PM to secure the bed you have reserved; after 7 PM, the bed may be allocated to others, but your booking is still valid. Pay for food and accommodation in the DNT app At self-service and unstaffed DNT cabins, you easily register and pay for accommodation and provisions in the DNT app. Have you pre-booked? Then the accommodation itself is already paid for – only register provisions in the app. Remember to download the app before you go on a trip! The app also works without coverage. For best offline functionality, you should open the app before the trip. Read more at dnt.no: https://www.dnt.no/hyttebetaling. Works with bank and credit cards from other countries. Payment slip You can also pay by filling out a payment slip that you will find at the cabin. Upon departure, place the completed payment slip in the safe and take your copy. We will then send you an invoice, but please note that a fee of NOK 50 will apply when using a payment slip. Remember to fill in the correct price for accommodation based on age and member/non-member status and all food you have taken. For your information, it is no longer possible to pay with cash at self-service cabins. Dog room There is a separate insulated room in the emergency shelter with two dog cages and a sleeping platform. No heating (the room does not meet escape route requirements).
