See floor plan here. Argaladhytta is a gem in wild nature! The cabin consists of two buildings erected in 1912 and 2010. The old Argaladhytta is a rare gem in DNT Bodø and Omegn’s cabin network. The old log cabin has an entrance with an earth floor and one living room with four beds. The size is therefore very modest, but the atmosphere, in turn, is extraordinarily good. The emergency cabin has one living room with four beds. The cabin is wonderfully located in Junkerdal National Park, right by a pool in the Skaitielva river, well protected by the birch forest in the narrow valley. Animal and plant life is rich in Skaitidalen. The Sami have reindeer grazing in the valley, please be considerate (Note! Dogs must be leashed). Argaladhytta is a popular stop for those traversing the Sulitjelma-Skaiti route. The distance from Trygvebu (8 km) is short enough that the cabin is a nice day-trip destination from there. DNT accepts companion certificates and offers free cabin accommodation to companions. You must have a valid companion certificate from the municipality. Read more about the scheme. Equipment: Here is firewood for heating and gas for cooking. In the old cabin, candles/kerosene lamps are used for lighting. In the emergency cabin, there is a solar power system for light and mobile charging. The beds are equipped with duvets and pillows; you must bring your own sleeping sheet, bed linen, or sleeping bag. Dog: Dogs are allowed in the old cabin/cabin 1. It is not permitted to take the dog into the beds. There is a blanket in the cabin for the dog to lie on, and there is a dedicated food bowl. Water: Drinking water can be found in the river that flows past in summer, while in winter you must resort to melting snow. History: Hunting cabin from 1912: The old Argaladhytta was built by four men from Skaiti and Junkerdal in 1912. Skaitidalen towards Balvatnet was then an attractive area for hunting grouse, fox, wolf, and bear. State forests allowed the construction in 1911, against an annual fee of 50 øre. In the winter of 1929, the cabin was damaged by an avalanche, and it was decided to move it to the east side of Skaitielva. In 1965, the then owners decided to give the cabin to BOT, on the condition that the owners and their families had free access to it, and that the cabin remained unlocked. Guests have said: Argaladhytta is undoubtedly one of the finest cabins in Nordland! Simple and good standard and unique location, absolutely fantastic. Of all the great cabins, I think the oldest Argaladhytta is the coziest and the nicest place. Very nice cabin yard where everything was tidy.
