Budalsvika

Just ten meters from the Swedish border, you’ll find DNT Halden og omegn’s unstaffed cabin Budalsvika. This is the southernmost cabin on Grensesømmen, and right outside the cabin door lies Tresticklans Nationalpark and Lundsneset naturreservat. This is the DNT cabin in Østfold that is furthest from settlements and roads. The cabin has 15 bunks in the main house and eight in the annex. Overnight stays in the annex are intended for the summer half of the year as there are no heating facilities there. NB! The bunks in the annex are not available in 2026 because the room is undergoing renovation. The bunks have mattress covers, duvets, and pillows. Your own bed linen or sleeping bag liner and pillowcase must be used. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, cookware, plates, cups/glasses, and cutlery. There is also a small dining area. Inside the kitchen is a bedroom with 4 bunks. In the living room, there is a larger dining area with a wood-burning stove and 4 bunks. The rest of the sleeping places are on the 2nd floor. There is no electricity in the cabin, but a solar panel system for light. Firewood is in the shed. Drinking water is collected from the border stream. Due to allergies, dogs are not allowed inside the cabin. There are several routes here; Hallevägen (historic hiking route), from Råbocken in Sweden, or from Remnevannet. (See links) Stanghytta (unstaffed DNT cabin) is about 18km on trails and forest roads to the southwest, and Ertekroken (unstaffed DNT cabin) is about 26km on trails to the west.
