About this spot
LOCATION: Tingstadkoia is located along Rondanestien on the ridge halfway between Stange and Våler. It is one of the overnight cabins along the historic hiking route “Allmenningskogene på Hedmarken”. It is not far from Pruterud ski play area, from which Åsbygda IL operates its trail network. There is no winter signage to the cabin, only summer signs along Rondanestien. EQUIPMENT: New from June 2026; The beds have duvets, pillows, and blankets, but everyone must use their own sleeping sheet or bed linen (pillowcase, duvet cover, and sheet). There are beds and mattresses in the cabin, distributed as 3 double beds. A small room is used as a dog room, where there is a dog crate in addition to a bed for the dog owner. TRIP SUGGESTIONS: For summer hiking opportunities, Rondanestien is recommended. In winter, there are several possibilities on groomed ski trails towards Svennebysetra and Opptrekkeren in Våler, as well as in Romedal allmenning otherwise. HHT Stange krets rents these two huts from Romedal Almenning to offer accommodation along Rondanestien. But at the same time, HHT wants to highlight the culture that forestry created. Therefore, few changes have been made to the interior - with the exception of equipment for cooking, dining, and three new double beds - precisely to give an impression of how forestry workers were accommodated in the years after World War II. We note that this is interesting for many hikers and is much appreciated, despite the fact that the building standard is somewhat lower than the average for DNT’s self-service and unstaffed cabins. Tingstadkoia opened as an unstaffed quarter with a DNT-key in 1996 with six beds. Contact information for cabin supervision.
