If you want to know more about wild reindeer’s use of the mountains and how you can be considerate of wild reindeer, you can read about it at dnt.no/villrein. Here you can also read about how DNT works with wild reindeer and travel. Wild reindeer are a vulnerable species and are extra sensitive to disturbances in spring. Due to wild reindeer, DNT will close its cabins on Hardangervidda during the calving season. This applies to the area south of Rv 7 and north of E 134. In addition, the cabins will be closed from October 15 to March 1, every winter. The cabins will be locked with a DNT-key and are accessible in case of emergency.
