LOCATION: The hut is idyllically situated by Fallåa in Romedal allmenning, approx. 3 km north of Malungen along Rondanestien. It is owned by Romedal Almenning, but is managed by HHT Stange krets. EQUIPMENT: New from June 2026; The beds have duvets, pillows, and blankets, but everyone must use their own sleeping sheet or bed linen (pillowcase, duvet cover, and sheet). The cabin has a kitchen counter, table, and a couple of stools. In addition, there are 6 beds. There is also a gas stove and standard equipment. Outside there is a wood shed and an outhouse. There are solar panels, so you can charge your mobile phone, etc. DOG: You can bring a dog to all HHT cabins. At Fløtdamkoia, there is a dog crate in a separate room. We ask dog owners to be considerate of any other visitors. BOOKING AND PAYMENT: At HHT cabins, all beds can be booked in advance, but hikers who have not booked may arrive. If you have not booked and paid in advance, you can pay with the DNT app. Pay for accommodation in the DNT app At self-service and unstaffed DNT cabins, you can easily register and pay for accommodation in the DNT app. Remember to download the app before your trip! See our cabin prices here Become a DNT member here HISTORY: Fløtdamkoia was built in 1951 as a hut for those who worked in the forest. The hut culture, as it was for forestry workers, was something valuable. Although living conditions could be mediocre, the hut also served other functions. Cultural dissemination had its arena here, and the camaraderie was unique. Staying at Fløtdamkoia for a night or two gives you a small impression of the old timber floating history from the forests of Hedmarken! During the timber floating era, Fallåa was considered challenging. Just above Malungen, Stygghølet caused great complications throughout all the years timber was floated here. The timber constantly got stuck, and many life-threatening situations arose for those who worked here. Much was tried to improve Fallåa without much success.
