Baugebua

A new hut was built in 2016 on the east side of Baugeelva. The old one, which was on the west side of the river, was taken by an avalanche in 2014. The hut is located along E1, Nordkalottruta and Grensesømmen on the T-marked route between Pauro and Sitas, right by the bridge just south of the outlet from Baugevatnet. Room: The hut has two bunks with mattresses, but without bedding. In the hut there is a small kitchen with gas and cooking equipment. In addition there is a wood-burning stove. There is no mobile coverage at the cabin. Water: Fetched from the river. Booking and payment: This emergency hut cannot be booked in advance. The hut is locked with a standard DNT-key. The key can be purchased at Sparebanken Narvik, Visit Narvik and Sportcentret, among other places. At Sportcentret there are good member benefits. You can also order a key in the DNT shop. Firewood in the mountains is very expensive and labor-intensive - it is not allowed to use firewood for outdoor campfires. Take your own rubbish home! The roads on Skjomfjellet / Narvikfjellene lead to several of DNT Narvik’s cabins. The roads are open to public traffic in the period approximately 1/6-1/10. The dates are not certain, but are based on ordinary seasonal conditions. The roads are owned and operated by the energy company Statkraft. Commercial use of DNT Narvik’s cabins All businesses and commercial operators who bring guests and groups to DNT Narvik’s cabins must contact DNT Narvik well in advance of each trip and make arrangements. There are separate prices for commercial groups. Prices are independent of whether the persons are members or not. ALL guests in the group must be registered in the visitor log. NB! The cabins must not be used by businesses and commercial operators on weekends, during winter and Easter holidays, public holidays (Ascension Day, Pentecost), as well as May 1 and 17.
