LOCATION: Gammelsaga is located in Stange allmenning along Rondanestien and right by the road for those on foot or bicycle in the common land. It is a simple, unstaffed cabin. The cabin is located in a small “hamlet” in the forest, containing several buildings with a long history of forestry. EQUIPMENT: New from June 2026; The beds have duvets, pillows, and blankets, but everyone must use their own sleeping sheet or bed linen (pillowcase, duvet cover, and sheet). There are sleeping places for 5 people (one bed 120 cm wide and three beds 75 cm wide). The cabin is very pleasant with a kitchen counter, wood-burning stove, solar power system, dining table, and chairs. The cabin is locked with DNT’s standard key. ACTIVITIES: We recommend the cabin for overnight trips for families and others on bike tours, for example, from Vensvangen over Lahlumsvangen or Bergsjøen. For those who want longer hikes, the trip up to Knuktårnet may be worth doing. If you bring a fishing rod, there is good fishing in both Hersjøen and Bergsjøen (you must buy a fishing license). In winter, there are nice ski trails starting from Knuken, which is about 7 km north of the cabin, and Lalumsvangen 1 km north of the cabin. DOG: You can bring a dog to all HHT cabins, but this cabin has no special facilities for dogs. BOOKING AND PAYMENT: At HHT cabins, all beds can be booked in advance, but hikers who have not booked may arrive. If you have not booked and paid in advance, you can pay with the DNT app. Pay for accommodation in the DNT app At self-service and unstaffed DNT cabins, you can easily register and pay for accommodation in the DNT app. Remember to download the app before your trip! It is located in the area of Stange Almenning with the same name. Here stood one of Stange Almenning’s sawmills, Østre Sag. This was the common land’s oldest sawmill, built in 1870.
