Kompasset

Kompasset is a large wooden lavvo on a small island in Halsjøen in Våler municipality. At normal water levels, you can wade across a gravel spit with water up to your knees. There are good opportunities for swimming and fishing here. You have your own small, west-facing sandy beach which is a gem. The lavvo was built in the mid-nineties so that the famous skier Vladimir Smirnov could take youth into nature. Today, the lavvo is open to everyone and is furnished with bunks and mattresses in a circle around the fireplace. In summer 2019, Statskog cleared some trees and vegetation so that the view of the lake from the lavvo became much more open. Kompasset is a popular excursion spot and is frequently used, especially in summer. Paddling and fishing trips on Halsjøen are well-suited for overnight stays in the wooden lavvo. Gravberget is an Eldorado for those who enjoy hunting, fishing, and outdoor life. The well-developed forest road network offers fantastic cycling opportunities. There are also cozy cabins for rent in addition to several open cabins.
