Grusetsetra

Grusetsetra is a cozy little cabin with an associated lean-to, located adjacent to Finnskogleden in Gruset state forest in Grue municipality. Until the mid-1950s, there was permanent settlement at the mountain farm, and at its peak, there was both a mountain farm and two crofts. Today’s buildings were constructed from timber sourced from various old cabins in the area in the 1980s. The work was led by former forest inspector Grim Huset. On the way up to the open cabin, you wander past old overgrown cultural landscapes where you can see remnants of old stone fences, clearance cairns, and other traces of earlier settlement. The refugee route “Spiker’n” passed the mountain farm during World War II. From Grusetsetra, a blue-marked, signposted trail leads 0.3 kilometers to a viewpoint inside Maliskjæra nature reserve. From here, you have a wide view over Finnskogen and the Rotna watercourse. A nice, partly reconstructed, old mountain farm path connects Grusetsetra with Hytjanstorpet further south. In these forest areas, you might encounter all four of our large predators, in addition to rich wildlife otherwise.
