DNT wants everyone to experience the joy of visiting a DNT cabin in nature. To spread cabin joy and information about DNT’s unique sharing cabins, DNT has built a cabin on wheels that will seek out people where they are. The tour started in the Outdoor Recreation Year 2025, and in 2026 the journey continues to different parts of the country. Each stop is completely unique! You can find the full itinerary at www.dnt.no/hyttapahjul. In May, the cabin is in Vestland fylke, then it travels to Nord-Norge! Some cities and towns have local DNT hikes or events when the cabin on wheels is with them; in other places, the cabin is a meeting point between the local DNT association and the local population. A pleasant and social way to get to know the local associations’ offerings of hikes, routes, activities, and cabins better. On its journey through the country, the cabin offers very special overnight stays. And it’s free for those who are lucky enough to secure an overnight stay. You won’t get a more local cabin trip! Simple, accessible, and simply a unique overnight experience. The cabin will contain everything a regular DNT cabin contains, such as a gas burner, cooking equipment, duvets, and pillows. Stops and Overnight Stays: Perhaps you will be one of the lucky ones to stay overnight in the DNT cabin on wheels? Everyone can apply for an overnight stay, but since the cabin is only in each place for a few days, there is a limited number of spots. The DNT cabin on wheels’ location on the map will be updated here on UT.no for each stop. Be aware that it moves frequently. The DNT cabin on wheels has been at Eiksetra in Finnemarka throughout the winter. During Easter, it embarks on its tour. The first stop is Hamar. Then Østfold is next, May 17th in Bergen, and a tour in Nord-Norge under the midnight sun. Remember that it moves frequently, and then it will also move on UT. Therefore, check the itinerary carefully. Equipment: Simple kitchen equipment is in place, e.g., pot and frying pan, spatula, and dinnerware for 4 people. Gas burner for cooking, and a small wood-burning stove. The cabin has candles and toilet paper. The beds have duvets, pillows, and blankets, but everyone must use their own clean sleeping bag liner and pillowcase, or clean bed linen. Water: Bring drinking water. A jug of water for washing and dishes is available in the cabin. There is a utility sink. Description of the cabin: The DNT cabin on wheels is 13 m2 and consists of a large room with a seating area and kitchen at one end and a double bed at the other. In addition, there is a small toilet room. This is locked if another toilet is available at the stop. The double bed in the cabin has plenty of space for two people. In addition, the seating area with a dining table can be converted into an extra bed so that you get sleeping space for an additional person there too. Remember that you must bring bed linen or a sleeping bag liner to place over the bed linen that is already there. The kitchen is equipped with a gas burner for cooking, and you will find the equipment you need to prepare and serve food. There is a sink and equipment for washing up. The cabin has a small wood-burning stove for heating. The toilet room has a Cinderella incineration toilet. The DNT cabin on wheels is unattended in 2026. Dogs are not permitted inside the cabin.
