Arentzbu is located in Rausdalen and was the first cabin built with funds from the legacy of doctor Fredrik Arentz. The cabin was completed in 1956, and the emergency cabin has since been expanded and modernized. The main cabin, however, remains intact with both interior and exterior as it was built in 1956. This led the National Heritage Board in the cultural heritage year 2009 to protect the cabin as a good example of how a self-service cabin was built and the ideas behind developing outdoor recreation accessible to everyone. Equipment The cabin has all the equipment you need for cooking and a pleasant stay, such as full kitchen equipment, tableware, and bedding. In addition, you will find a good selection of food in the pantry. There is no electricity at the cabin, but gas, wood-burning, and candles as light sources. Guests arrange their own cooking, water collection, dishwashing, floor washing, and general tidying of the cabin inside and out. Payment Prices for accommodation and provisions Please note that the prices at the cabin follow the price list of DNT Oslo og Omegn. Other DNT member associations may have different prices. Go to price list. Advance booking via hyttebestilling.dnt It has never been easier to book a cabin trip at DNT cabins. Via hyttebestilling.dnt.no, you can easily see when the cabin is available, explore cabins on a map, and book a spot. DNT Oslo og Omegn makes a limited number of beds available for booking. The remaining beds will be open for drop-in. Arrive at the cabin before 7:00 PM to secure your reserved bed; after 7:00 PM, the bed may be assigned to others, but your booking is still valid. Pay with DNT Cabin Payment We recommend all guests who do not pre-book to pay electronically with the DNT Cabin Payment app. With this app, you can easily pay for food and accommodation at self-service cabins. The app is available for iOS and Android. The app also works in places without phone and network coverage. Works with debit and credit cards from other countries. Payment slip You can also pay by filling out a payment slip that you will find at the cabin. Upon departure, place the completed payment slip in the safe and take a copy with you. We will then send you an invoice, but please note that a fee of NOK 50 will be charged for using a payment slip. Remember to fill in the correct price for accommodation based on age and member/non-member status, and all food you have taken. For your information, it is no longer possible to pay with cash at self-service cabins. Dogs Dogs are not permitted in living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms. There is a dog cage in the outhouse/emergency cabin. Bring a mat for the dog if necessary; do not use the cabin’s bedding or blankets.
