The day trip cabin Kvilekroken in Kvam municipality is located by Mosvika, Krokavatnet. A trip on a good path along the pipeline from Solhaug takes you to the cabin. The day trip cabin is located in a popular excursion area. Here, there are many paths to walk if one desires a longer trip. The cabin has a small wood-burning stove, a library with Nynorsk children’s books, and seating benches inside and out. It’s a nice place to eat your packed lunch and take a good break. Overnight stays are not permitted at the cabin. Leave the cabin in a way you would wish to find it yourself, clean and inviting. Take your trash, bottles, etc., home with you. The owner of the cabin is Kvam municipality. Kvam Turlag provides supervision. Contact Kvam municipality with questions and feedback about the cabin itself. Hiking route to the cabin: From Solhaug, follow the path along the power line/pipeline. The trip goes steadily uphill with some steep sections. The path and pipeline lead you uphill towards Krokavatnet. After the top of the pipeline, the path goes right across a marsh and further over a small bridge. You now follow the path further and will have Krokavatnet on your left side. About 200 meters from the cabin, you reach the old dam; cross this and then turn right for the last few meters to Kvilekroken. It is 2.3 km from the parking lot at Solhaug to the cabin. Allow approx. 45 min. each way.
