Brakabu - the day trip cabin of Osterøy municipality is beautifully located by Erstadfjellet 438 meters above sea level. The cabin is located on the west side of Osterøy with natural access from Valestrand, Brakvatne, or Votlo. Have a good trip! The cabin has a small wood-burning stove, a library with Nynorsk children’s books, and seating benches inside and out. It’s a nice place to eat your packed lunch and take a good break. Overnight stays are not permitted at the cabin. Leave the cabin in a way you would wish to find it yourself, clean and inviting. Take your trash, bottles, etc., home with you. Hiking trails to the cabin: From Valestrand - take Reigstadvegen right uphill from the center. Continue on the marked trail over Reigstadåsen to Erstadfjellet and the day trip cabin. From Brakvatnet - road up to Brakvatne, then to Erstad. Trail from Erstad southeast to the day trip cabin. From Votlo - road to Askeland, trail on the right side up to the day trip cabin. The day trip cabin project is a collaboration between Vestland County Council, Sparebankstiftinga / Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane, and the individual municipality.
