An Eldorado for fishing and kayaking, but also a lovely place for indoor coziness and tranquility. The facility consists of two rental cabins, a sauna by the sea, pier facilities, and nice outdoor areas. Perfect place for schools, businesses, and groups who want unforgettable days by the ocean. There’s plenty to do here all year round! Facts about Rongevær kysthytte: The cabin is located 6 meters above sea level on its own island. Sheltered from the open sea, a 300-meter rowing trip from Baløy on the mainland side. The number of sleeping places is 38. Distributed as 24 in Skulehuset and 14 in Naustet. Primarily group rental. Rooms can be rented if there is available capacity. Easiest starting point: Baløy. Parking at the turning area and marina. Rowboats at the floating pier are rented in advance. Season: All year, but be aware of weather and wind. The stay must be pre-booked. Cabin host during parts of the summer season and selected holidays and weekends. The cabin Rongevær kysthytte is unlocked. It can be used all year round. The cabin is newly renovated with good comfort. There is no pantry, so you must bring all food yourself. A good selection of what you otherwise need for cooking and your stay. The cabin has running water and electricity. Are you renting one of the cabins? See which one suits your needs! They have different qualities! Due to high demand, it is important to book early! Skulehuset: Several living rooms, large dining room, and lounge. Sleeping places for 24 people distributed across 4 bedrooms. 2 on the 2nd floor and 2 in the attic. Newly renovated and inviting. Kitchen with, among other things, stove/oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, and cold storage room. Several toilets and 2 bathrooms with showers. Equipped with 2 screens. Variable internet access. Web-based work is not recommended as of May 2025. Best conditions on the 2nd floor. Poor coverage in Naustet and outdoor areas. See notice in Skulehuset. There are 2 cribs with duvets/pillows, and high chairs available. One bed is located in room 12 and one in the storage room on the 2nd floor. This is a travel cot that can be used where needed. Naustet: Newly renovated and practical. Limited space in common living rooms and kitchen. 6 bedrooms with bunk beds accommodating 14 people. 3 rooms are adapted for dogs with dog cages. One room has extra door width and is partially adapted for people with reduced mobility. 2 toilets with shower/bath. On the lower floor there is a larger assembly hall. Where tables can be set for 30-40 guests. This room has electricity, but no heating. Suitable for use in summer. Sauna: A gem of a timber-frame building with panoramic views over the sea. Located on the northern pier right by the water’s edge. The sauna accommodates 8 people, is wood-fired, and must be pre-booked. Cold shower and changing room in connection with the sauna. Information and booking of sauna here. Indoor facilities: Rongevær kysthytte is well adapted for children. There are high chairs, cribs with bedding, books, and outdoor toys for children. There is no elevator. Bedrooms, living rooms, and toilets in both Skulehuset and Naustet can be reached without too many stairs. Bathrooms are spacious. Outdoor facilities: Rongevær kysthytte is located on the island Nordra Kjerringa. The island is not large, but there are several piers, outdoor areas, a floating dock, and forest terrain to enjoy. Picnic benches, grills, fire pit, and outdoor toys are available. Great areas for playing on the shore. There are stairs up from the floating dock to Skulehuset and Naustet. From the floating dock facility at Baløy to Nordre Kjerringa, it is approximately 300 meters as the crow flies to row. Primarily calm waters protected by islets and skerries, but be aware of weather and wind. The open sea is not far away. With a lot of wind, waves and currents can make the rowing trip challenging. At the floating dock facility at Baløy, there are 8 boats available for guests. They must be booked in advance. In Båthuset, 300 meters away, there are life jackets and other equipment. Phone coverage varies depending on the operator. There is no combined use of the cabins; leave equipment where it belongs. Mandatory to bring a sleeping bag liner/sleeping bag/bedding set. Garbage must not be left behind; there is a container with a code lock at the floating pier at Baløy. The cabin must be tidied, cleaned, and look nice when you leave it. New guests will arrive after you! Booking and payment Rongevær kysthytte is primarily a rental cabin and deviates from standard terms and prices. You can access the cabin in the following ways: Advance booking - online payment Book accommodation at hyttebestilling.dnt.no. Advance booking is recommended during high season, for cabins with few beds, and for groups. Cabins rented as a whole unit or with room-only booking must be pre-booked for access. An electronic receipt will be sent upon advance booking. Here, terms and important information about each individual cabin are specified. Book group visits in advance to [email protected]. Separate discounts, terms, and cancellation policies apply to group visits. For a discount, the booking must go through Bergen og Hordaland Turlag via email. Drop-in visits: Overnight stays and sauna must be pre-booked. Day visits are paid for in the DNT app. If you are a day visitor with your own boat, you are welcome to moor at the quay, use the piers and the toilet in Naustet until 6 PM. Exception when the entire facility is rented out to a group. In that case, day visits are discouraged as much as possible – please check with the Touring Center in advance. No advance booking, use of the cabin, food, and more - DNT app At self-service and unstaffed DNT cabins, you register and pay for accommodation, day/tent visits, food, and more in the DNT app. Have you pre-booked? Then the accommodation itself is already paid for – only register food in the app. Remember to download the app before you go on your trip! The app also works without reception. Dogs Dogs are welcome at most of BHT’s cabins in designated areas. Due to allergies, hygiene, and others’ fear of dogs, it is important that guidelines for dogs are followed. Guide dogs are exempt from accommodation rules and accompany their handlers. Rongevær kysthytte: 3 dog cages are placed in 3 bedrooms in Naustet. Owners can sleep in a room with their dog. Dogs do not have access to living rooms in Naustet or to be in Skulehuset. Dog cages must not be moved. Dog overview other cabins. Guidelines for dogs: Guests with dogs must book a dog cage. The dog sleeps there at night. Dog facilities are generally in the emergency cabin, with limited access to rooms other than where dog cages are placed. See overview for each individual cabin. Dogs must not be on sofas, beds, or use blankets or bedding from the cabin. Bring your own bowl, blanket, and towel. Do not use equipment belonging to the cabin. Clean up and wash thoroughly after the dog - also after toilet breaks. Always keep the dog on a leash near the cabin and follow applicable leash laws. Be considerate. Your dog can cause fear in others even if it is the world’s kindest. Groups Rongevær kysthytte is frequently used by school classes, businesses, associations, and private groups throughout the year. High indoor comfort, many outdoor activity options, as well as easy access by car and a short rowing trip make it very popular. If you are lucky, you might get several good dinner meals. You must bring all fishing equipment yourself. Many great destinations by kayak, on foot, or by bike. The roads are paved and have little traffic. Biking is a good means of transport for several of the hiking alternatives below. Feel free to combine a few days at Rongevær kysthytte with a trip to the village in the sea, Fedje, or Norway’s westernmost mainland point, Vardetangen. Bergen and Omland Friluftsråd (BOF) has developed several areas in Austrheim. There is much to choose from here!
