About this spot

Styrbord is locked with a special key that must be collected at the Hiking Centre in Storgata 3 before your stay. Upon key collection, a deposit of NOK 750,- is paid, which is refunded upon return. The DNT standard key cannot be used. Styrbord is the largest DNT cabin on Gressholmen and is intended for groups, school classes, clubs and associations, and also groups of friends. The cabin is idyllically located in the inner Oslofjord. From Gressholmen, you have a fantastic view out over the fjord and towards large parts of the city and the Marka area. The cabin is completely renovated, a big thank you to Oslo municipality and the Agency for Urban Environment! Cabin rules Read and adhere to these cabin rules for the cabins on Gressholmen. It is not permitted to camp or stay overnight in a hammock, neither by the cabins nor elsewhere on the island. Booking The cabin must be pre-booked, and it is booked as a single unit. For visits with school classes, the entire cabin must be booked with DNT Oslo and Omegn. Send an email to [email protected]. The cabin is available from 14:00 on the day of arrival until 12:00 on the day of departure. The Tourist Association’s cabins are used for outdoor activities, and it is not permitted to have parties in the cabin. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside the cabin. There must be quiet in the cabin and outdoor area between 23:00 and 07:00. NB! We note that camping is not permitted on Gressholmen. Day visits Unfortunately, day visits are not possible at Gressholmen Styrbord. Equipment The cabin has electricity, a refrigerator (without a freezer compartment), a dishwasher, a wood-burning stove for heating, a stove/oven for cooking, a coffee maker, a kettle, basic equipment for cooking and washing up, toilet paper, duvets, pillows, and blankets. The firewood in the cabin should only be used for firing the wood stoves, not for outdoor campfires. Bring all food, a little extra toilet paper, a sleeping bag liner, or your own bedding. Each person must clean up after themselves. The main rule is that you should leave the cabin in the condition you would wish to find it, or possibly a little better than when you arrived. The cabin has a grill which is shared with guests at Babord. Bring charcoal and lighter fluid. How to use the unstaffed DNT cabins in Oslo. Water source There is running water that can be drunk. Dog Dogs are not permitted inside the cabin. Description of the cabin The cabin has a floor area of approx. 70m2 distributed over two floors. On the 1st floor there is a kitchen, a living room with two dining areas, a toilet, and one bedroom with 2 beds (duvets and pillows in the corner cabinet). In connection with the living room, there is also a nice glass veranda with cozy seating and a good view of the sea. On the 2nd floor, there are sleeping spaces and one toilet. They are divided into a large dormitory with 18 beds, one bedroom with 2 beds, one room with 3 beds (one of which is 170cm), and one room with 3 beds (two of which are 175cm). In total, there are 28 beds. There are no extra mattresses in the cabin. Other DNT cabins in Oslomarka DNT Oslo and Omegn has 40 unstaffed cabins in Marka. Other DNT cabins in Marka School classes and similar groups: Before starting the trip, it is important to do thorough preparatory work with trip planning in collaboration with the students. Teachers/leaders must familiarize themselves with the regulations for using the cabins. Upon arrival at the cabin, it is advisable to review the cabin rules with the students. Feel free to distribute tasks such as cooking, carrying firewood, and cleaning upon arrival. Remember that it is the teacher’s/leader’s responsibility to ensure that the cabin is left in accordance with the regulations, which includes vacuuming and washing it before departure. Check that all windows and doors are closed and that the outer door, woodshed, and boathouse are locked with a standard lock. Enjoy your stay at the cabin and have a good trip!
