About this spot
The great day-trip cabin, Fjordblikk in Masfjorden municipality, opened in January 2021. The cabin is located right on the shoreline at Grøttneset between Mjanger and Kvingo. Here you can arrive both by foot and by boat. From June 2023, you can use a universally designed walkway from there (over the path) all the way to the cabin. The cabin has a small wood stove, a library with Nynorsk children’s books, and benches inside and outside. There is a toilet in the immediate vicinity. Here it is nice to eat your packed lunch and take a good break. It is not permitted to stay overnight in the cabin. Leave the cabin as you wish to find it, clean and tidy. Take your rubbish, bottles, etc. home with you. Contact Masfjorden municipality with questions and feedback about the cabin. Trail description to the cabin: From the parking lot, there is a well-marked trail to the cabin. The first part is a tractor road that eventually turns into a trail. The terrain is slightly hilly with little ascent. The trail divides approx. halfway to the cabin. You can then choose to go over Flena or through Skarhellerdalen to the cabin, which is almost on the shoreline. From the parking lot by the municipal road, it is approx. 1.4 km to the cabin. If you choose to park at FV570, the trip is approx. 2.4 km. If you want a slightly longer trip, it is also possible to walk from Kvingevågen. Here the terrain is somewhat more hilly, and you should expect to spend approx. 1 hour on the 3 kilometers. Tour suggestions: Round trip at Fjordblikk, Round trip at Kvingo. The day-trip cabin project is a collaboration between Vestland county municipality, Sparebankstiftinga / Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane, and the municipalities themselves.
