About this spot
In the free camping forest east of Røsnæs Naturskole, there is a shelter with a campfire site and grill. The shelter is located at Røsnæs campsite, where it is permitted to pitch tents next to the shelter. It is not possible to book the shelter, and its use is therefore based on the “first come, first served” principle. Approximately four people can fit in the shelter. You may sleep in the shelter for two consecutive nights. There is no toilet or water at the site. The nearest tap and toilet are at the Nature School, which is approximately 500 meters from the shelter. You must bring your own firewood. Fires are only allowed at the officially established campfire site in front of the shelter. When arriving by car, the nearest car park is at Vågehøj on Røsnæsvej 456, 440 Kalundborg (in Google Maps: Parkering Vågehøj). It is 170 meters from the car park to the shelter and campsite. You can also arrive by bicycle or on foot along the asphalt road Røsnæsvej, or by walking on the Røsnæs Rundt hiking route or the local red route. It is not possible to drive a car all the way to the shelters to unload equipment, and parking must be done at the nearest car park. Access to the shelter is via a gravel road, grass, and dirt path. The shelter is designed with a transfer platform for wheelchair users, but the wheelchair must be off-road capable to reach the shelter. There are no waste bins at the shelters, so whatever you bring on your trip, you must also take home. The shelter was built with support from the A.P. Møller Foundation.
