Helnæs Sommerland

The shelter site at Helnæs Sommerland on the Helnæs peninsula is part of the Blå Støttepunkter (Blue Support Points) shelter concept, where you can stay overnight in new, modern, coastal shelters all around Funen. The shelter site with two 5-person shelters is located 15 m above sea level with a fantastic view. The shelters must be booked at www.bookenshelter.dk, and it costs 30 DKK per person per night. There is space for 4 people in each of the two shelters – 5 if one wants to sleep on the floor. Assens Municipality’s bathing water quality control for the beach near the adjacent holiday home area shows that the bathing water quality is top-notch. There is a fire pit with a fire ring and fire benches. There is no firewood on site, so you must bring your own if you want to make a fire. Naturally, trees and bushes on the site must not be felled or cut. There is a toilet with running water in the brick building 50 m from the site. Smaller amounts of water can be tapped from the sink’s tap. The toilet can only be used by shelter users, who receive an access code when booking the shelter. In the building, there is also a small common room with a table and some chairs. One half of each shelter is split-level, so two can sleep upstairs and two downstairs. A fifth person can lie on the floor in the other half of the shelter. The shelter has many doors, hatches, and windows, so in good weather, you can get plenty of light and fresh air. In bad weather, the shelter can be almost completely closed off. However, there is one opening that cannot be closed. It is a requirement that a shelter must have at least one permanent opening.
